Michelle Kam is a Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Kelowna. In this role, Michelle is working on a Community Climate Action Plan which is focusing on reducing community greenhouse gas emissions 33 percent below 2007 levels by 2020. She is also working on other sustainability initiatives such as chairing the City’s Sustainability Action Team, fostering partnerships with stakeholders, and working on other policy and planning projects in Kelowna such as the Official Community Plan 2030. Prior to the current position, Michelle was an Environment Technician for the City of Kelowna for thirteen years. In this role she spearheaded the City’s Pesticide Regulation Bylaw and “Be Pesticide Free” education campaign, and coordinated environmental education, restoration projects, and community events and involvement. Michelle has a degree in Geography, with a focus in environmental issues, from the University of British Columbia.
