Blackman is a project engineer and sustainable design specialist with Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. in Vancouver. As chair of the company’s sustainable design group, Michael is responsible for research and education related to sustainable building practices and he oversees individual building evaluations, multidiscipline seismic upgrades, and construction projects. He is also chair of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. and the Yukon’s (APEGBC) sustainability committee, and a member of both APEGBC’s green building code and climate change task force. Michael has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia, LEED certification and a certificate in sustainable design from Boston Architectural College. He is a member of APEGBC and an associate member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers.
