Brian MacIsaac operates an organic farm-based microbrewery in Sorrento in BC’s Thompson-Okanagan—the first such in Canada. Crannóg Ales marries environmental and economic responsibility to award-winning beers in an educational, ethical and inspirational framework. Brian's approach to sustainability starts at the soil and works throughout systems to create integrated solutions for long- and short-term issues ranging from water use to zero-waste systems. The farm brewery has been instrumental in restarting an organic hops growing industry across Canada, has trained organic brewers, and has won widespread recognition in both the brewing and environmental communities for its thorough approach. In 12 years of professional brewing, Brian has inspired other microbrewers to become more sustainable and creative and to buy into organic agriculture.
